Join the SYRA

The Sharon Youth Robotics Association is once again recruiting and organizing teams to represent Sharon in the FIRST LEGO League (FLL, grades 4-8) and the FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC, grades 9-12), with the competition seasons starting in September 2008.

Participating in FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science & Technology) robotics competitions fosters teamwork and technical skills, as well as being fun and exciting.  State tournament competition can lead to the World Championships, where the SYRA has been represented by one or more teams for each of the past 5 seasons.

The SYRA mentors teams in and around Sharon MA, as well as consulting with teams at greater distances. Please contact us if you are interested in participating, or want more information.

SYRA meetings resume for the Fall 2008 season at 6:00pm on Wednesday September 3rd, at the Girl Scout House in Sharon, focusing on team formation and orientation.  The Girl Scout House is at at 11 Station Street, right next to the Dedham Savings Bank (corner of South Main and Station streets), and diagonally across from the old Wilbur School.

The next meeting will be at 6:00pm on Wednesday, September 10th, at the same venue, and every succeeding Wednesday throughout the season.  The 2008 Climate Connections challenge will be released on September 5th.  Our regular meetings reserve the 6:00-6:30pm period for rookie team Q&A, with our regular meeting from 6:30-7:30pm.
