Join the SYRA

The Sharon Youth Robotics Association is once again recruiting and organizing teams to represent Sharon in the FIRST LEGO League (FLL, grades 4-8) and the FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC, grades 9-12), with the competition seasons starting in September 2012.

Participating in FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science & Technology) robotics competitions fosters teamwork and technical skills, as well as being fun and exciting.  State tournament competition can lead to the World Championships, where the SYRA has been represented by one or more teams for each of the past 9 seasons.

The SYRA coaches and high school team members mentors teams in and around Sharon MA, as well as consulting with teams at greater distances. Team Unlimited (FTC0001, high school level) members also officiate at FLL tournaments in eastern and central Massachusetts.

SYRA meetings resume for the Fall 2012 "Senior Solutions" season at 6:30pm on Monday September 10th, at the First Congregational Church of Sharon Meeting Hall, focusing on team formation and orientation.  The First Congregational Church of Sharon Meeting Hall is at 29 North Main Street, across High Street from the Sharon Public Library.

Our first meeting will be at 6:30pm on Monday, September 10th, and hopefully every succeeding Monday throughout the season (except Monday holidays, such as Labor Day).  The 2012 Senior Solutions challenge will be released on August 28th.
