Post-tournament: The 3rd Annual Sharon FLL tournament was a great success, due to the coordinated efforts of the Sharon Myotonics FTC team (our esteemed judges) and Team Unlimited (refs, scorers, timers, etc), as well as all our FLL teams and coaches! The competition was fervent but friendly, and our teams were inspired to new heights of accomplishment. Hopefully, everyone is that much better prepared for the regional and state competitions that are coming up soon! We have posted our photos from the Invitational! Every team saw 4 rounds of table competition, and the results are below:
The Semi-finals pitted Team Unknown (130) against the Xbots (115), and the Black Botz (190) against Think Outside the Botz (65). The finals saw Team Unknown (145) and the Black Botz (190), with the Black Botz as the victor on the field! After the final match and a short break, representatives of our referees and our judges announced the awards, as follows: Robot Performance Award - for top score, the Black Botz team with 190. The Unknown team second, with 180. Programming Award - for best combination mission, the Unknown team. Innovative Design Award - for their modular design, Think Outside the Botz team. Dependable Design Award - for their consistent scoring, the Zotbots team. Teamwork Award - for their dual squad cooperation, the Bricksters (A & B) team. Team Spirit Award - even though they didn't have pom-poms! - the Genghis Khan team. Project Award - for their maple syrup modeling, the Black Botz team. Creative Presentation Award - for their excellent tri-fold display, the Xbots team. Research Quality Award - for excellent diagrams and charts, the Zotbots team. Champions Award - for overall excellence in all categories (Technical, Research, Teamwork and Field Performance, our 2008 Champions Award winners are the Black Botz! Pre-tournament: The 3rd Annual Sharon FLL tournament will be held on Saturday, November 15th from noon to 4pm (plus or minus) at the Sharon Girl Scout House. The eight SYRA teams are all invited. The Mentors team, plus additional volunteers, will officiate as referees and judges. 3 rounds of qualifying competition on two tables will be followed by a series of single elimination matches. Judging for technical and project presentations will be included. And as always . . . we expect that a great time will be had by all!
