FIRST Vex Scrimmage at WPI

Members of our Eagle Unlimited team (Vex team 13) participated in the FIRST Vex scrimmage at WPI in Worcester MA on Saturday, April 9th.  It was a valuable experience for us to practice and scrimmage on the actual challenge field, and it enabled our team members to do a lot of fine-tuning.

We arrived at Fuller Labs on the WPI campus at 9:00am, and were able to meet many of the great local teams participating in the FIRST Vex Challenge, as well as dedicated WPI and FIRST staff that were running the scrimmage.  A lot of information exchange was going on, as well as design alterations in the light of practice experience on the official field.  Practice sessions continued through the morning.

Standings after qualifying rounds

After lunch, qualifying matches ran from 1:00pm to 2:30pm.  We ran in six matches, and were fortunate enough to seed third.  Our biggest accomplishment was evolving our design enough to be able to cap the stationary goal.

Unfortunately, we needed to leave before the final rounds, because of a prior commitment.  Regrettably, we missed the Alliance choices and final competitions.
